How The TruMark Index™ Works

Your TruMark Personality Profile™ helps you better understand your true marketing personality within the parameters of five fundamental categories.

Key Marketing Concepts of The TruMark Index™ By gaining greater insight into your true nature and inclinations, as they relate to marketing, it becomes easier for you to take full advantage of your strengths, and minimize the negative aspects of your weaknesses.

Each category is comprised of two opposing personality traits or polarities (e.g. Dynamic vs. Magnetic in the Power category). Your score for each category is determined based on the answers you choose when completing The TruMark Questionnaire™.

Based on your answers, you are assigned a cumulative score ranging from 0 (even) to a maximum of 20 for one polarity in each category. The higher you score in any particular polarity, the more pronounced your personality traits are in that area. For example, in the Aspirations category, if your score for the polarity Empire-Builder is 15, your marketing personality will be much more growth-focused than someone who scores 15 as a Gardener. In comparison, if your score is 0 or even, your Aspirations profile would be balanced meaning that you have a blend of the personality traits from both the Empire-Builder and Gardener polarities.

It is important to note that scores are graded on a declining exponential scale. For example, the difference between the scores of 2 and 3 is greater than the difference between the scores of 15 and 20.

For each of the five categories, you are provided with an analysis describing what your score means, and how you can use this self-knowledge to take full advantage of your true marketing personality.

In many cases your best approach is to create support structures, build teams, and implement strategies that help you strike a balance between the polarities. For example, if your score in the Communication category is a 15 Scientist, your natural tendency is to prove what you say with facts, figures, and real-life case studies. However, if part of your marketing involves delivering seminars to large audiences of prospects, providing too much detail in a presentation may work against you. Even though facts and figures are sometimes extremely important, motivating people to buy requires excitement and an emotional appeal. Being aware of your Scientist tendency can help you avoid presenting excessive detail in such a situation. It may also compel you to develop more entertaining presentation support material or team up with someone who scores high as a Story-Teller.
